It’s a cross-border national park area shared by the Czech Republic and Germany, known for its unique sandstone rock formations, deep forested valleys, and scenic hiking trails. The German side is called Saxon Switzerland; the Czech side is Bohemian Switzerland. The name “Switzerland” was given in the 18th century by Swiss artists who found the landscape similar to their homeland, despite no geographical connection.

We provide pick-up directly at your lodging in Dresden or Prague. However, in some cases — for example, if your accommodation is located outside the city center or in a restricted area where vehicles are not allowed — we may ask you to meet us at a nearby, convenient location. We’ll always inform you the day before and make sure the meeting point is easy to reach.

We use comfortable, air-conditioned minivans with 6 to 8 passenger seats. It’s not a large bus — the smaller size allows for a more relaxed, personal experience during the drive and easier access to the national park areas.

Absolutely! A hearty lunch at a local Czech restaurant is included in the price of the tour. You’ll get to enjoy traditional dishes, and there are always vegetarian and vegan options available. We also usually bring along some water and a small snack to keep you energized, but it’s a good idea to pack your own water bottle and anything else you’d like to have with you during the hike.

Our guided tours are generally considered to be of medium difficulty by European standards. The trails are a mix of easy, gentle paths and some steeper, more challenging sections. While we’ve had hikers in their 80s successfully complete the entire tour, a person’s individual fitness level and lifestyle are the most important factors.

We recommend dressing in light layers and comfortable clothing that allows for a full range of movement. Sturdy, broken-in shoes are essential for your comfort and safety on the trails. During the summer months, a hat or other head covering is highly recommended to protect you from the sun.

The tour is a full day and generally takes 9-12 hours. This duration can be influenced by factors like the specific itinerary, traffic, and the group’s pace. We make sure there is enough time for everyone to enjoy the sights and the entire experience.

Your tour price covers all the essentials for the day, including:

• Transport to and from the sites
• All necessary entry fees
• Toilet fees
• A delicious lunch

The price does not include gratuities for your guide and driver. Tipping is not expected but is always a kind way to show your appreciation for a job well done.

Our route takes us across the border between the Czech Republic and Germany to experience the full beauty of the national park. Even though border checks are generally not in place within the Schengen Area, it is a legal requirement to carry a valid form of identification when crossing.

Our tours operate rain or shine! The weather in Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland can change quickly, so we come prepared. We provide rain protection for our guests, and if a heavy downpour occurs, our guides know the best spots to find shelter until it passes. This ensures the tour continues safely and you still get to experience the national park’s beauty, no matter the weather.

You can cancel for a full refund up to 24 hours before the tour departure. For last-minute changes, please contact us as soon as possible.
