Glassmaking & Nature Adventure Near Prague
This curated experience balances the heat of the artisan’s furnace with the cool, refreshing air of deep pine forests, offering a perfect mix of creativity and adventure. Your journey begins with a seamless pickup from your Prague doorstep. We head straight to a master glassmaker’s studio near Nový Bor—the very region that inspired the glass art in the Netflix movie Glass Onion. Here, you are more than a spectator. Under expert tuition, you will handle the blowpipe yourself to create a custom glass piece or vase. To ensure your artwork is properly annealed (cooled), we handle the logistics and deliver the finished product to you in Prague the following day. Before pausing for a hearty, traditional Czech lunch, we visit the legendary Stone Organ (Panská skála). These towering basalt columns, formed by ancient volcanic activity, look like a cathedral’s pipes carved from dark stone. The afternoon is a journey through time and nature in Sloup v Čechách. We start at the Sloup Rock Castle, a fortress literally hollowed out of a massive sandstone monolith. Its history stretches back to prehistoric times, and you can still wander through the chambers carved directly into the cliff. From there, we transition into a gentle hike through lush coniferous woods where wild blueberries grow alongside the trail in the summer months. Our path leads to the secluded Samuel’s Cave, the former home of a 18th-century hermit, and the Forest Theater, an extraordinary open-air stage framed by towering rock walls. To capture the scale of the landscape, we’ll ascend the Na Stráži Lookout Tower for a 360-degree view of the valley. We conclude the day at the Prayer Valley (Modlivý důl), a spiritual and silent retreat featuring a beautiful rock-cut chapel that radiates peace.
